One of the founding reasons for the Pintor artesà  project is to recover artisanal techniques and trades in the world of construction and disseminate them so that they are not lost.

In this sense, teaching is a tool at the service of this objective. But it is not the only reason that has led Joan Nieto to enter this field. Also the vocation to teach   inherited from his mother (school teacher) and the passion for new pedagogical trends in teaching and training have been important reasons for making the decision to train and dedicate part of his professional career to this field of work.

Joan Nieto trained as a plasterer and tadelakt applicator in Marrakech, and worked as a plasterer for a plastering company for five years. He has also worked as a painter for 16 years and has given courses on the restoration of wooden structures at “El Polell”, a nature school in Montseny. For the last nine years he has given regular courses at the Barcelona Painters' Guild training school on the following topics: introductory course on tadelakt, course on the restoration of wooden structures, course on the application of microcement.

For the last five years he has been teaching introductory training in decorative painting at the Miquel Biada Vocational Training Institute in Mataró.

For the last two academic years he has been giving occupational training courses in the field of decorative painting at the CIFO Santa Coloma (occupational information and training center of Santa Coloma de Gramanet).
